Community Service

Service and global awareness are a part of our schoolwide learning expectations.

Families are required to complete 15 volunteer hours per year and students participate in community service projects in the classroom. In the 2020-2021 school year, our OMS students and their families completed 1,445 volunteer hours. Take a look at some of the past projects OMS students have completed.

TK/K students decoupaged our "Lost & Found" barrel for Ms. BJ (School year: 2020-2021)	Mrs. Brigantino's first grade class collected food for the Food Bank for St. Joseph's Table (School year 2020-2021)	TK/K students decorated signs for the San Luis Obispo Police Department (School year 2021-2022)
Mrs. Brigantino's first grade class collected towels for animals to use at Woods Humane Society (School year 2021-2022)	Ms. Gilsdorf's fifth grade class created pet toys for Woods Humane Society (School year 2021-2022)	Mrs. Ronay's class collected items to create care packages for people receiving chemotherapy (School year 2021-2022)
Mr. Van Es' fourth grade class collected food donations for the SLO County Food Bank and KSBY Season of Hope (School year 2021-2022)	TK and Kindergarteners visited a SLO City Fire station to say thank you to our first responders (School year 2021-2022)
