Get on the Bus 2017:  Donations Needed by May 20

This is the 12th year OMS is involved in Get on the Bus, a program that brings children throughout the state of California to visit their mothers and fathers in prison.  In 2006, OMS helped launch the very first Father's Day event which was held at the California Men's Colony. Since then, an interfaith community of over 50 organizations have come together to answer the call.

This year, nine busses of children will travel to visit their fathers at San Luis Obispo's California Men's Colony on May 20. OMS can support the program by donating games, money to rent a bus, and supplies to fill "Stay-Connected" bags. These bags will help the children communicate with their fathers when the children return home.

Tithing collected on the five Fridays after Easter break during morning assembly will also help pay for a bus. Also, there is a donation box in the office.

Please send new items only. These are gifts to the precious children riding the buses.  Please send these items to school by noon Friday, May 5.

Donations by Grade:

Policy Regarding Parent Deliveries During the School Day on the OMS Campus

On the Old Mission School campus, we are working very hard to help students develop personal responsibility and accountability.

We have adopted a policy of not accepting delivery of papers, books, reports, projects, etc. that parents might bring to school because the students have forgotten them.

We never want to teach students that someone will follow behind them in life to see that they have their personal materials. In the bigger picture of life, we all want our students to feel confident and self-reliant. Please help by discussing this policy in a very positive way with your children, so students fully understand how this policy will help them prepare for life in the 21st century.

Parents may still drop off lunches. Lunches will be placed outside the office on a lunch table. Please make sure your students know the place to find lunch deliveries, and please be sure their names are clearly written on the lunches.

Important Billing Change for Next Year

We are simplifying in-house billing procedures. All billing will be done through FACTS tuition management system. We will no longer be using the SMART payment system.

What does this mean for you?

  • Every family will receive an email notification after their registration paperwork has been submitted to create an online account with FACTS.

  • We are asking every family to create an account regardless of the tuition plan you choose.

  • If you would like a copy of your 2017-2018 admission paperwork, please contact Jillian in the office.

If you do not receive an email invitation from FACTS to create your account after your paperwork has been submitted, or have any questions, please contact Susie Lock at, or (805) 543-2165

Tuition Assistance Applications

If your family is interested in tuition assistance for the 2017-2017 school year, the forms from FACTS are online only.

The address is (or click on the FACTS link above).

We strongly encourage any family in need of tuition assistance to complete an application. We will award the tuition assistance the first week of June and notify our families by mail.

Attention 8th Grade Parents

Eighth grade baby and "through the years" photos for yearbook.

Every year, we have photo pages created especially for the graduating class. One section is for baby pictures, and the other is for pictures of two or more classmates from years past (birthdays, sport teams, dance, Halloween, etc.)

Deadline for turning in baby pictures and "through the years pictures" of Class of 2017 is December 13, 2016.

If you prefer to send scanned or digital photos please make sure they have a resolution of 300 dpi. Email to or share with me on Dropbox.

Actual photographs will be scanned and returned. Please make sure student name is on the back. Place in envelope in 8th grade homerooms.

  • Please don't send photos printed from a home printer.

  • Because of space limitations, the yearbook team selects a variety of photos for the "Through the Years" pages.

OMS Campus Absentee Procedures

If your child is ill and cannot attend school, please call or email the school office at 543-6019 before 9:00 AM.

This is very important - BJ will have to call you if you do not call in, and you can help her avoid this cumbersome task.

We thank you in advance for teaming with her to protect your children!

Please Share Your School Photos with Us

We are in need of photos for the yearbook and our Facebook page. Please send photos to:

You may also submit cds to the front office; please write "For Yearbook" on the disk or you may share with us at on Dropbox.

We are especially looking for school event photos - first day of school, Halloween, Walkathon, Class Awards, Class Parties, Field Trips, Advent Program, etc. You get the picture - we're proud of our students.

OMS Campus Safety

Parents who volunteer or visit classes on the OMS campus are required to sign in and out every time they visit.

This policy was implemented to assure safety on the OMS Campus, and it enables school staff to know who is on campus at all times. Please help us protect your children by complying with this policy.

After 2:45 PM, parents are welcome to enter the side doors to wait for their children by their classrooms if they are not parked on Peach or Broad streets.

Old Mission School Teachers are now Online and on Twitter!
