OMS Campus Halloween Festivities: Monday, October 31, Minimum Day Dismissal

Our annual OMS campus Halloween festivities are scheduled for the morning of October 31. As a Catholic school, we strive to teach our students to celebrate all that is good and positive in life. We believe our school functions should reflect this "respect life" philosophy.

In light of this, we are asking students on both campuses to refrain from wearing costumes that are inappropriate for a Catholic school function. Specifically, students are asked not to wear or bring to school:

  • Extremely gruesome or macabre costumes

  • Punk or heavy metal outfits

  • Fake guns, spears, swords, knives, hatchets, axes, machetes, etc.

  • Costumes with inappropriate sexual themes (e.g. Playboy bunnies, French maids, etc.)

  • In light of recent events we ask students not to wear clown costumes.

Please help us make the Halloween parade a positive experience for your children by following these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Halloween Parade

Grades 1-6 have been asked to visit The Manse a little later on Monday, October 31 for the Halloween parade.

Therefore, students will be leaving the school at about 9:15 AM. Students will have approximately 25 minutes of class time prior to leaving, and they will need costumes that will be comfortable for sitting and walking Please take this into consideration when your student is choosing a costume.

Parents, please remember that if you have young children joining our parade, hold their hands while walking through the Manse; there was a previous incident 9(not involving OMS) where a running child was responsible for the fall of a resident.

Reminder: Parents walking with students must be cleared.

Students also need to bring uniforms to school.

Halloween Schedule

  • 9:15 AM - Grades 1-6 Halloween Parade to the Manse

  • 11:00-12:45 PM - 7th & 8th Grade Social at the Odd Fellows Hall

  • 12:30-1:00 PM - Minimum Day Dismissal

October is Respect for Life Month

Throughout the month of October, our students will be collecting items for the very  young and the very old.

Families may donate items for babies, which will be given to ALPHA.

We are also collecting items for the elderly, such as lotions, slippers, large-print crossword puzzles, talcum powder, and other items that will be given to care centers.

ALPHA items may be turned in to Brittany Enamorado in Room 4. Items for the elderly may be turned into Mary Donnelly in Room 3.

Here is a list of what's "hot" with the elderly at the care centers:

  • Lipstick

  • Non-skid soled slippers

  • Hair doodads

  • Socks

  • Shower and baby powders

  • Perfume and colognes

  • Large print decks of cards

  • Large print crossword and puzzle books

  • Coloring books and crayons.

We are unable to accept the following items:

  • Hairspray (flammable)

  • Shampoos and soaps (these are already supplied)

Thank you for your generosity and support!

Important: OMS Hot Lunch Accounts

There are a few changes to the lunch accounting system this year:

  1. All families with more than one student automatically have a "family" account. Deposits will go into a single "family" pot that all students will draw from. If you have students at OMS and MCP, we are able to combine both schools into a mega-family account.  This will be done only on request.

  2. If your child orders lunch once a week or more, you will need to open an account. Daily payments of between $4.00 to $5.00 can no longer be done. To open your account, you must have a minimum of $50 to deposit.

  3. PayPal is now accepted! Log into your PayPal account or create one. Once you are logged on select My PayPal, then select "Send money to friends and family." Send the money to You will then indicate the amount of money you would like to place on your child's account. In the "notes section" please include your child's name and the classroom teacher.

  4. If you have a middle school student who purchases breakfast, cash is acceptable at the burrito cart, or purchases can be debited to their lunch account.

The new price for hot lunch is $4.50. Grades 1-3 have the option of ordering a regular lunch at $4.00, a larger lunch at $4.50, or a salad at $4.50. Milk is still 50 cents and is sold separately.

Please Note: OMS Extended Care Phone Number

OMS has a direct-dial telephone number for the after-school program.
